DuPont™ Pastora® Herbicide for Use on Bermuda Grass Rights of Way

WILMINGTON, Del., Nov. 16, 2010 ― Land managers seeking to improve sightlines and public safety along roadsides and other rights of way now have a new weed-control option that will enable them to remove troublesome grass and broadleaf weeds while maintaining a healthy Bermuda grass stand. DuPont Pastora® herbicide has been federally approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for use on unimproved Bermuda grass areas on airports, highways, railroads and utility rights of way.

“Public safety along roadways, at airports, and at railroad and utility sites is a major concern for land managers,” said John Chrosniak, regional director, North America – DuPont Crop Protection. “Pastora® will help control tough grasses and weeds that can hamper visibility and road maintenance along rights of ways, while providing cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing Bermuda grass areas.”

Pastora® is a selective, broad-spectrum herbicide for postemergence control of unwanted grasses, including johnsongrass, vaseygrass and ryegrass, in Bermuda grass rights of way. Pastora® also provides postemergence and residual control of many troublesome broadleaf weeds, including marestail, pigweed, woolly croton and morningglory, with greater Bermuda grass tolerance than imazapic and other herbicides.

Pastora® can be applied while Bermuda grass is dormant to control winter annual grasses, including ryegrass, and broadleaf weeds, such as curly dock. Spring and summer applications will control summer annual and perennial weeds, including johnsongrass and pigweed.
