Komatsu America has added the PC170LC-10 excavator to its dash-10 series.
The PC170LC-10 provides up to 5 percent more lift capacity than its predecessor, the PC160LC-8. An optional heavier counterweight adds 15 percent more lift capacity compared to the PC160LC-8.
Without the heavier counterweight, the machine can be hauled on a 40,000-pound tag-along trailer.
Powered by Tier 4 SAA4D107E-2 engine that uses an advanced electronic control system to manage air-flow rate, fuel injection, combustion and exhaust after-treatment.
With operating weights ranging from 38,100-41,600 pounds, the excavator offers a net 115 horsepower at 2,100 rpm and a 10-percent improvement in fuel efficiency over the PC160LC-8.
The PC170LC-10 features an integrated design with Komatsu-manufactured engine, hydraulic pump, motors and valves.
A closed center load sensing hydraulic system boosts hydraulic efficiency, and enhanced working modes are designed to match engine speed, pump delivery, and system pressure to the application.
Variable speed matching allows the engine speed to adjust based on the hydraulic pump output for both light and heavy-duty applications, while low speed matching uses a larger pump capable of producing higher pump output at lower engine speeds.
The Komatsu Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (KDOC) integrated design removes soot using 100-percent “true passive regeneration,” eliminating the need for a diesel particulate filter (DPF).
A high-resolution 7-inch LCD color monitor is located in the cab. It displays information in 25 languages and allows the operator to select from six working modes — Power Mode, Economy Mode, Heavy Lift Mode, Breaker Mode, Attachment Economy and Attachment Power — to match machine performance to the application.
The monitor panel also displays Eco Guidance (operational efficiency guidance), operational records, fuel consumption history and use information.
A standard rearview monitoring system allows the operator to view directly behind the machine with the push of a button.
The Komatsu EMMS (Equipment Management Monitoring System) provides enhanced diagnostic features for monitoring and troubleshooting. The system continuously monitors many critical systems, as well as the planned maintenance schedule, and provides troubleshooting assistance to minimize diagnosis and repair time.
The machine also includes Komatsu’s Komtrax technology for fleet monitoring.
