New Swan Lake Road bridge..The new Swan Lake Road bridge over Flat River opened to traffic on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 6, but drivers are being asked to proceed with caution while finishing touches are being done at the bridge and heavy equipment is working near the highway, the Shreveport Times reports.
Swan Lake Road, part of phase one of the north-south corridor, is still under construction from the Interstate 220 exit to the bridge. Phase two, which will connect Swan Lake Road from the Flat River bridge to Crouch Road, could begin as early as next year.
According to the news agency, Parish Engineer Butch Ford said, once the corridor is complete, motorists will see wider shoulders and a safer driving environment.
