The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has reported the Architecture Billings Index (ABI) score was 50.2 in August, up from 48.7 in July. The new projects inquiry index was 57.2, up 56.3 the previous month.
Regionally, the South’s ABI score was 52.2, the Northeast’s was 45.5 and the Midwest’s was 45.3.
The multi-family residential sector saw an ABI score of 53.0, while the institutional sector had a score of 50.2. The commercial/industrial sector had an ABI score of 47.9, and the mixed practice sector’s score was 46.8.
The regional and sector categories are calculated as a 3-month moving average, whereas the index and inquiries are monthly numbers.
