Seven construction firm employees missing in Iraq

Seven employees of Kellogg, Brown & Root, the construction and engineering subsidiary of Halliburton, are missing in Iraq, the top U.S. general in that country said April 12.

Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez said two U.S. troops are also unaccounted for. Sanchez had no further details about the missing employees or troops.

Kellogg, Brown & Root also employs truck driver Thomas Hamill of Mississippi, who was taken hostage April 9 by gunmen in Iraq. Hamill’s abductors said he would “be treated worse than the four Americans that were killed in Fallujah” if U.S. troops did not withdraw from Fallujah by 10 p.m. April 10. There has been no word on his fate since.

The kidnappers were making a reference to the four civilians whose bodies were mutilated and dragged through the city’s streets.
