Volvo Trucks North America says it will hire 300 people and add a second shift to its truck manufacturing plant in Dublin, Va. The plant will increase production of its VN tractor from 73 per day to 112. The factory also produces six heavy construction trucks and 36 Mack trucks a day. Volvo is ramping up production at the plant, which hasn’t had a second shift since 2000, to meet increasing demand for over-the-road trucks.
