In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, Wolverine has expanded its Loader II work boot lineup with the collection’s first Made-in-USA model, the DuraShocks Wedge.
Equipped with Wolverine’s DuraShocks shock-absorbing system for reduced impact and foot fatigue, the new American-made Wedge boot has 13 DuraShocks traction bars, a nod to the 13 stripes on the American flag. Made in Texas from domestic and globally sourced materials, the new DuraShocks Wedge comes as either composite or soft toe and brings the full Loader lineup to 17 models.
Contractors will be sporting a full-grain leather upper with red, white and blue stitching detail on the backstay and a small American flag stitched to the exterior.
Other features on the boot include a moisture-wicking mesh lining, an advanced comfort PU midsole, Goodyear Welt construction that allows for future resoling, a nylon shank for improved support and a CarbonMax composite toe for a lower profile, boosted strength and temperature-swing resistance.
I received a pair of the composite-toe Loader II DuraShocks Wedge boots from Wolverine for testing and found them both comfortable and sturdy. They were comfortable from the start and didn’t require much breaking in.

While I wasn’t able to test them long enough or in rugged enough conditions to see how the Made-in-USA quality compares to other boots made abroad, I can say the boot’s construction is high quality. Additionally, the patriotic visual cues make the Made-in-USA Wedge into a conversation piece that stands out against other boots on the jobsite.
The new Wolverine Loader II DuraShocks Wedge comes in one Trail Brown color and retails for $274.95 as a soft-toe boot and for $279.95 as composite toe.
