Florida inks deal to build $1.8 billion toll road

And the money is going to a Spanish lead group that will design, build and operate three new toll lanes alongside Interstate 595 near Fort Lauderdale. According to the article the state will set rates and pocket the tolls but the design build group will be paid according to how well they build and maintain the lanes. Similar projects have been shot down in Texas and Pennsylvania due to political pressure.
