Astec equipment to be featured on TLC’s Mega Machines

If you watch the next two episodes of Mega Machines on The Learning Channel, you will get a special peek at the crunching, munching and carving power of trenchers and surface miners manufactured by Astec Underground.

The show, which is hosted by retired Baltimore Ravens defensive star Tony Siragusa, features various types of heavy equipment in action. Astec’s Trencor 1860HD Trencher and RoadMiner will be featured, along with a new 3000 SM Surface Miner, a specialty rock excavation machine designed to cut up to 10 feet wide and up to 26 inches deep in a single pass.

“The power and size of these machines is unmatched in the industry,” said Brant Robertson, Trencor sales manager. “Sometimes, the only way to really understand their capabilities is to see them in action.”

The Sept. 28 episode, “Mega Cutters,” will focus on saws and cutting equipment that can be used to cut through almost anything. During the Oct. 5 episode, “Mega Munchers,” will feature several mining and forestry machines, and will show the equipment demolishing everything from limestone to logs.

“Mega Machines is thrilled to be able to share these massive rock excavation giants with our audience,” said James Cox, the show’s producer. “The minute we saw them, we knew we had to get them into the show.”
