DeWalt has introduced two new rotary lasers and several laser devices that make taking measurements over long distances a cinch.
The two new rotary laser models from DeWalt are powered by the company’s 20-volt cordless battery system. The DW080LGS Green Rotary Tough Laser has a high-visibility green beam and the DW080LRS offers a traditional red beam.
Accuracy on both is rated at plus/minus 1/16-inch at 100 feet, and ranges reach from 250 feet indoors to 2,000 feet outside with the use of a detector. For protection against jobsite abuse and accidents, the lasers are built to IP67 debris/water resistance, which means they are fully protected from dust and can survive being underwater for up to 30 minutes (not that we’d recommend that). Both rotary lasers are able to withstand drops from two meters and come with storage cases. Bluetooth connectivity can sync these lasers with the company’s Tool Connect App.
Nobody likes to wrestle with a tape measure over long distances, and with DeWalt’s new DW0330S Laser Distance Measurer you can read distances up to 330 feet with an accuracy of plus/minus 1/16th inch at 30 feet. The unit will save up to three measurements and calculate square footage and volume for you. When paired with DeWalt’s Tool Connect app, it will also store measurements and append them to photos. The DW0330S has an MSRP of $180.
The company also has another version, the DW0165S that measures to 165 feet but otherwise has the same features and retails for $150. A less expensive version that measures to 165 feet and lacks only the Bluetooth connectivity, the DW0165 sells for $100. You can also get a 100-foot Bluetooth version (DW099S) for $100 and a 30-foot Pocket Laser Distance measurer (DW030PL) for $20.
