Deere to use its brand name, colors on forestry equipment line

John Deere announced plans last week to use its brand name and green-and-yellow color combination for its forestry equipment line. Since its June 2000 acquisition of Timberjack, Deere has kept the Timberjack colors and trademark for forestry products. Although the company will continue to build some equipment for that brand and color combination, it said most of the equipment it manufactures for work in forestry operations will carry the name John Deere and be painted the green and yellow of its agricultural equipment line. Machines made under the Timberjack and John Deere brands share key components, common suppliers, quality controls, and manufacturing processes. By placing the John Deere brand on its forestry machines, the company is providing an outward signal to customers of internal improvements, said Eric Hansotia, vice president, John Deere forestry group.
