Sprocket design eliminates slippage, need for tensioning

Thomas Equipment’s new T220 tracked loader features large diameter open sprockets on the front and rear wheels. The self-cleaning design increases track wrap up to 180 degrees around the drive sprocket to help eliminate track slippage, ratcheting and wear. It also places the drive motors inside the machine allowing for the use of large diameter drive sprockets and idlers and eliminating the need for a track tensioning system. The 18-inch-wide track has an extra long (4.9-inch) pitch, which permits the use of big, deep traction pads. When you don’t need tracks, the T220 can be quickly converted to conventional tires and four-wheel drive. The two-speed, shift on the go loader tools around the jobsite at up to 12.3 mph in the high range. An 87.4-horsepower turbocharged Kubota diesel engine gives the T220 7,000 pounds of breakout force, a lift capacity of 2,200 pounds and 21-gpm standard hydraulic flow. Optional high flow hydraulics can crank out 40 gpm and 70 hydraulic horsepower.
