The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) named Charles Luck IV, president and CEO of Luck Companies, as its chairman of the board during the group’s recent convention in Baltimore. The meeting was held concurrently with the World of Asphalt and AGG1.

“Charlie’s insights into what the aggregates industry faces each day, coupled with his values based leadership, will take NSSGA to the next level,” said NSSGA President and CEO Michael W. Johnson. “He is well-prepared to lead and execute our Rocks Build America strategic plan and will advance our association as the leading voice of the industry.”

Luck asked for NSSGA members to consider how the aggregates industry “impacts” the U.S. “Let’s never forget that we are building the future infrastructure of our country that enables a quality of life that many other countries can only wish to have,” he said. “When all of us are engaged and committed, NSSGA is doing well. When NSSGA is doing well, we are building a better future for this country.”

He also wants rework the NSSGA board structure and association governance to harmonize with the group’s Rocks Build America strategic plan announced last year.

The plan’s objectives include strengthening NSSGA’s legislative advocacy leadership role; advocating for members’ interests on health, safety, and environmental issues; expanding internal and external communication strategies; and increasing producer membership and revenues.

“The goal is to have representation in every state with highly qualified and highly committed leaders to ensure the long-term health of NSSGA and the aggregates industry,” Luck said.
