United Rentals launches eBay store

United Rentals began selling its used equipment through a certified auction program on eBay in mid-November. The eBay store is part of United Rentals’ new e-commerce plan to provide online options for purchasing or renting equipment.

In the third quarter of this year, more than 20 heavy-equipment attachments and 15 skid steers have been sold each day on eBay. This validates the site as a destination for people looking to purchase the kinds of equipment United Rentals sells, said Michael Kneeland, executive vice president of operations for the company.

“We have a couple of great examples of recent auctions including a 1999 JLG scissor lift we sold to the highest bidder for $4,250 and a 2001 John Deere Gator we sold to another bidder for $2,100,” Kneeland said. “In under a month, we have received 100 percent positive feedback and already have a feedback rating of 10 for our eBay store.”

You can go directly to https://stores.ebay.com/unitedrentals to view available equipment or to www.unitedrentals.com, where you’ll find a link to the eBay listings. United Rentals machines will also show up in regular searches on eBay. Equipment purchased on the site is available with a United Guard Extended Warranty, which covers inspections and repairs for an additional charge.

“eBay is pleased to connect United Rentals with users who rely on eBay to operate their businesses cost-effectively,” said Daniel Leffel, category manager for eBay Business. “United Rentals’ reputation for supplying equipment and contractor supplies to meet every jobsite need is a great fit with eBay, where thousands of businesses and individuals look for great deals on a wide range of equipment.”
