Perkins Engines, a Caterpillar company, and business partner Ishikawajima Shibaura Machinery dedicated a small engines manufacturing facility in Griffin, Ga., May 13. Perkins Shibaura Engines is the first Perkins plant in North America, and will eventually produce 60,000 engines annually. The 55,000-square-foot plant is located near a larger Caterpillar operation in Griffin. The facility will provide the Perkins 400 Series engines to Caterpillar, North American original equipment manufacturers and Perkins and Caterpillar distribution and dealer networks for smaller OEMs and aftermarket. Production will begin this summer.
