JLG to buy Delta Manlift, supply telehandlers to SAME Deutz-Fahr

Manitowoc announced March 29 that JLG has made a binding offer to buy its Delta Manlift subsidiary in France. Delta manufactures the Toucan brand of vertical mast lifts and a line of aerial work platforms primarily for industrial and maintenance operations.
Manitowoc said in December it would discontinue parts of its aerial work platform business and focus solely on vertical mast units. The company said it will provide aftermarket parts and service support for the discontinued product lines. In addition to the Delta transaction, JLG will acquire certain intellectual property and related assets of the discontinued product lines, allowing JLG to relaunch selected Liftlux models at a later date.

JLG Manufacturing Europe BVBA and SAME Deutz-Fahr Group announced March 31 they intend to enter an agreement through which JLG would supply its line of compact telehandlers to SDFG. The telehandlers would be branded SDFG machines and marketed in Europe through SDFG’s distribution network. The companies expect products to be available as a result of the agreement by the end of 2004.
