Fontaine acquires U.K. fifth wheel business
Fontaine International recently announced the acquisition of Big D fifthwheel & Landing Legs in the United Kingdom. Due to the acquisition, Fontaine now manufactures the largest volume of pressed-steel fifth wheels in North America and Europe.
Trimble granted patent
Trimble announced July 10 it has received a patent for automated status reporting of ready-mix concrete trucks. The system automatically reports when trucks leave the plant, arrive at the jobsite, begin and end the pouring process and when water is added to the mix. The new technology will be marketed under the product brand Telvisant.
Terex, Daewoo make distribution agreement
Terex announced July 18 it has entered an agreement with Daewoo Heavy Industries and Machinery to distribute heavy crawler excavators and wheel loaders under the Terex brand in North America. The agreement includes crawler excavators with 13- to 47-ton operating weights and wheel loaders with bucket capacities from 2 to 5.3 cubic yards. Terex expects to begin offering the Terex-branded crawler excavators and wheel loaders by the end of the year.

Volvo Rents signs three new franchise contracts
Volvo Construction Equipment Rents announced July 11 the signing of three franchise contracts for centers in Florida and New Jersey. World Rental Sales of Miami will open Volvo Rents centers in Dade and Broward counties in southern Florida. Contractor Equipment Rentals of Orlando also plans to open a Florida rental center, its third, in Lakeland, Fla. Access Rentals of Harrison, N.J., will open a Volvo Rents center in its territory by the end of summer.

SAKAI appoints dealer for New York, Vermont
SAKAI America announced July 8 the appointment of Liftech Equipment Companies as an authorized dealer in the states of New York and Vermont. SAKAI offers vibratory soil and asphalt compactors, static rollers, soil stabilizers, pavement profilers and six new 4000VPM rollers for Superpave and perpetual pavements.
