Todd Marpe, a demolition contractor from Northwood, Iowa, is the winner of Equipment World’s Contractor’s Dream Package Sweepstakes, valued at nearly $100,000.
The package includes equipment and supplies provided by various construction industry manufacturers. The grand prize was a Ford F550 Super Duty pick-up truck.
Marpe has been a self-employed contractor for the past 25 years in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota. He saw the advertisement promoting the “Dream Package” while looking through Equipment World magazine.
“My wife talked me into it, and after filling out the form, I asked my father to touch the envelope before I put it into the mail, because he is my good luck charm,” Marpe explained. In June, he received word that among other prizes, he had won the Ford truck, a Thomas skid-steer loader, Loegering skid tracks, a Miller welder and a Crown concrete mixer and concrete screed.
The presentation of the Dream Package took place at Pritchard’s Auto Company, a Ford Truck dealer in Britt, Iowa. Dealership owner Joe Pritchard presented Marpe with the key to his new Ford truck. Attendees representing Thomas Equipment included Dave Heiken from D&L Equipment, the Thomas dealership in Kensett, Iowa; Gary Lane, Thomas regional manager; and Todd Johnson with Kaye Corporation, the Thomas Equipment distributor from Mankato, Minn.
Marpe’s wife, son, daughter and parents were on hand for the occasion. Dan Tidwell, publisher of Equipment World, said: “We could not have hand-picked anyone more deserving or who displayed more gratitude than Todd Marpe. We’re confident this new equipment will help make his business even more successful.
