The old U.S. 68/KY 80 Lake Barkley Bridge in Canton, Ky., was demolished on Wednesday morning, April 11, 2018. Crews used explosives to take down the 90-year-old historic bridge.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet closed the new replacement bridge running alongside the old one during the explosion and reopened it after crews checked to make sure there was no debris from the explosion on the new bridge.
