Ventrac demos new sidewalk salt drop spreader at APWA Snow Show

SA250 Drop Spreader

Ventrac’s new SA250 Drop Spreader has a wireless controller to provide control of salt and other de-icing material drop-rate and easy flow adjustments, features that have been optimized for the precision needs of winter sidewalk/pathway management.

SA250 Drop SpreaderThe U.S.-made spreader was on display and being demoed at the American Public Works Association’s 2015 North American Snow Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The SA250 offers universal mounts so it can be attached to small vehicles, such as ATVS/UTVs, and has a narrow 40-inch drop pattern.

Hopper capacity is 2.5 cubic feet or 200 pounds, and the unit can spread for at least 3 miles on one fill when using bagged rock salt spread at a rate of 3.5 pounds per one thousand square feet at 5 mph.

Without having to leave the seat of the vehicle, the operator can use the wireless controller to change the motor speed to five different settings in addition to flow adjustments.

The hopper is stainless steel to inhibit rust and corrosion and a compression roller system agitates the spreading material so the unit does not have to vibrate like other mounted spreaders.
