Bridge company honored for hybrid-composite beam (HCB) bridge

HC Bridge Company, LLC has announced that the Lockport Township Highway Department, in conjunction with Teng & Associates, Inc., was selected to receive a national engineering honor award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for the new High Road Bridge.

The project, located over Long Run Creek in Lockport Township, Ill, serves as the first permanent deployment of a Hybrid-Composite Beam (HCB) Bridge. The unique structure is disguised as an ordinary bridge tucked away in the scenic Des Plaines River Valley. The existing bridge had outlived its useful service life and was categorized as both structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. To reduce future maintenance costs, the new replacement structure uses the first deployment of the HCB.
