Cat opening new North American manufacturing facility in 2012
Caterpillar Inc. announced plans on Nov. 11 to shift its production from Japan by opening a new manufacturing facility in North America for small tracktype tractors and mini hydraulic excavators. The Peoria, Ill.-based company says the shift is part of a strategic decision to move production closer to the majority of customers who use the products, a large base of which is in North America and Europe. The move will also create more than 1,000 jobs in North America, according to Caterpillar. ,Caterpillar Inc. announced plans on Nov. 11 to shift its production from Japan by opening a new manufacturing facility in North America for small tracktype tractors and mini hydraulic excavators.
