Though 3D machine control has been on the market for a while now and its benefits are well-documented, only a small portion of the industry uses it. Eighty percent of construction contractors do not use machine control technology, according to Randy Noland, VP Global Sales & Business Development at Hemisphere GNSS, because cost and complexity still form major barriers to entry.
Hemisphere is setting out to change that with its new GradeMetrix system, which offers full 2D, 2.5D (in-field design), and 3D machine control at half the price of its closest competitors.
