PHOTOS: Six bridge/transportation projects receive 2014 PCI Awards

Winners of the 2014 Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Design Awards competition have been announced, and six bridge/transportation projects were honored.

“It was a tough competition,” said Don Powell Jr., principal-in-charge at BOKA Powell architecture firm and one of the building awards judges. “We saw many innovative applications of this technology that resulted in low-cost, high-quality finishes, and exceptional quality control.”

The PCI Design Awards recognize design excellence and construction quality using precast concrete. The program demonstrates how designers are continuing to use precast/prestressed concrete components to achieve sustainable, more cost-effective, aesthetically pleasing, and quickly constructed projects.

The winning projects can be seen as part of the slideshow at the beginning of this article. The winners are also listed below:
