HCEA dedicates new archives building

The Historical Construction Equipment Association has a new building for its archives.

The building was officially dedicated at a ceremony Nov. 19 and brings together all of the association’s records under one roof for the first time. The climate-controlled storage area will house records from more than 2,000 manufacturers of equipment and accessories including sales literature, photographs, manuals, parts books, engineering drawings, audio-visual media and business records.

Volunteers and apprentices from the Ohio Operating Engineers Apprenticeship helped with the building project by donating site work and grading services. The new building is located behind the HCEA’s National Construction Equipment Museum, which houses 20 fully restored antique construction machines.

Researchers and equipment enthusiasts who want to dig into the archives can do so by appointment. The building is located at 16623 Liberty Hi Road, Bowling Green, Ky. Contact Thomas Berry at 419-352-5616 or [email protected] for appointments or more information.

The HCEA has more than 4,000 members worldwide with an interest in historic construction equipment and a concern for the preservation of these machines and their history. To find out more visit the organization’s website by clicking the link to the right.
