John Deere, Topcon form alliance

John Deere’s Worldwide Construction & Forestry division and Topcon Positioning Systems have formed a strategic alliance to allow John Deere to sell, support, and factory-install Topcon’s 3D-MC² grade control solutions on John Deere dozers and motor graders.

Customers can now order a dozer or motor grader with a Topcon’s 3D-MC2 grade control system installed in a John Deere factory. Previously, all equipment was installed at dealerships.

John Deere still maintains its open architecture approach, giving customers a choice. John Deere will continue to allow customers to choose whether they want the Topcon components or any other any brand of grade control.

Factory-installed options available for the Topcon system will include single or twin antenna versions, as well as six receiver options including multi-constellation GNSS support and communications protocols.

The installation and distribution of Topcon components in John Deere products will begin this fall in the United States and Canada. Other worldwide efforts in Latin America, Russia, China and Southeast Asia will begin on a later date.
