Construction adds 46,000 jobs in November

As Residential Construction Continues Its Climb, Carpenters Are The Most Sought After Craft Workers In The Construction Industry

Despite the onset of colder months, construction job numbers are only heating up.

Following the addition of 34,000 jobs in October, the industry added another 46,000 jobs in November, according to preliminary data from the Labor Department.

Construction now employs 6.490 million Americans—the highest figure since January 2009 when it employed 6.567 million. This is the eighth-consecutive month of gains for the industry.

The industry’s unemployment rate was flat at 6.2 percent.

The November data also revised October’s job total, upping that month’s mark to 6.444 million, from the previously reported 6.434 million. The change increased October’s jobs gain from 31,000 to 34,000 workers.

The U.S. economy added 211,000 jobs during November with unemployment flat at 5 percent.
