Chevy beefs up storage-focused Silverado High Desert for SEMA with performance extras, striking bronze accents

Updated Nov 17, 2016

Earlier this year, Chevrolet introduced a package for its Silverado LT, LTZ and High Country trim levels aimed at those who appreciate the SUV-like versatility of the discontinued Avalanche, but weren’t exactly fans of that truck’s…distinctive look.

chevrolet-high-desert-sema-5The Silverado High Desert offers a flexible storage system with dual side storage bins and a three-piece tonneau cover. It provides lockable and water resistant storage with an ample amount of organization thanks to a cargo divider that can be raised from the bed.

The truck actually started as a concept vehicle at the 2014 SEMA show. And to celebrate its release in the official Chevy lineup, the automaker brought a special show truck edition to this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas.

And while the Carhartt and Alaskan Silverados stole the show at Chevy’s booth this year, we found this 2017 Silverado 1500 High Desert SEMA Show vehicle to be a striking pickup thanks to its bronze stylings.

This SEMA-fied High Desert is set apart from the production model by the addition of a performance air intake, performance exhaust and performance brake kit. The exhaust adds 7 horsepower “and a throatier note” to the 6.2-liter V8 underneath the hood.

There are also a couple more distinctive additions to this SEMA High Desert below the hood. The grille features an illuminated black bowtie emblem along with a bronze grille insert that looks phenomenal in person. A bronze trim accents the truck’s Slate Blue exterior and is also found on the 22-inch anodized wheels.

Inside, the High Desert logo adorns the headrests while the seats feature Cocoa leather inserts.
