Wyoming DOT awards $12 million in highway contracts

Road Work Cones ConstructionThe Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is moving ahead with its aggressive repairs to the state’s transportation system, announcing that the Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded $12 million in highway contracts during the month of February 2017. The following list provides information about each project:

  • $3.3 million was awarded to McGarvin-Moberly Construction Co. to remove ruts on 9 miles of US 16 in Big Horn and Washakie counties and upgrade the guardrail. The project will be paid for with a 10-cent fuel-tax revenue. The completion date is Oct. 31.
  • $2 million was awarded to Streamline Markings Inc. for an epoxy-striping project along several high-traffic roads, including Interstate 80. The completion date is Oct. 31.
  • $1.6 million was awarded to Cache Valley Electric Co. to install variable speed limit signs on I-80 between the Utah state line and Evanston, Wyo.; install a road closure system on the on-ramps of I-80 from US 189; and install a side-mounted dynamic message sign near the junction of US 30 and US 189 south of Kemmerer. The completion date is Nov. 30.
  • $1.5 million was awarded to Simon Contractors of Cheyenne for a pavement overlay project on 6 miles of WYO 335 between Big Horn and Red Grade in Sheridan County. Work will also include bridge repairs and an epoxy-rock mixture overlay on the driving surface. The project will be paid for with a 10-cent fuel-tax revenue. The completion date is Sept. 30.
  • $1.1 million was to McGarvin-Moberly Construction Co. to remove ruts and smooth the surface of a 6-mile portion of US 20-26 between Moneta and Shoshoni in Fremont County. The project will be paid for with a 10-cent fuel-tax revenue. The completion date is Aug. 31.
  • $994,284 was awarded to Knife River for a 6-mile pavement improvement project on WYO 434 and County Road 82 between Worland and Ten Sleep in Washakie County to be completed by Aug. 31.
  • $901,110  was awarded to Advanced Electrical Contracting Inc. to install variable speed limit signs and road weather information systems on Interstate 90 between Buffalo and Sheridan to be completed by Oct. 31.
  • $778,040 was awarded to S & L Industrial for guardrail removal and upgrades in several areas in Carbon and Sweetwater counties to be completed by Oct. 31.
