BergerVolvo Construction Equipment has announced that Alan Berger is the company’s new senior vice president of technology.
Berger replaced Anders P. Larsson who at the start of this year became Volvo CE’s president of Chinese investment and its ahead of the Lingong Integration Office.
Berger has been with Volvo CE since 2007 when he came on board as part of the Ingersoll Rand acquisition. Prior to being named head of technology, he served as VP of the road machinery division, VP of advanced engineering and, most recently, VP of the company’s product platforms organization.
In his new role, Berger will be based in Brussels, Belgium, and will be responsible for the development of the company’s technology strategy, reporting to Volvo CE President Martin Weissburg.
Berger attended Carnegie Mellon University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering and applied mathematics as well as a master’s degree in electrical engineer, controls and signal processing. He also holds an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
He has obtained 21 U.S. patents during his career and has authored nine publications.
