Volvo Construction Equipment announced this morning that company president Pat Olney is leaving the company at the end of this year.

Olney will take a position in a “non-competing, large engineering company” based in the United States.

In a statement this morning, Olney cited a 17-year career at VCE and stressed the change “was not an easy decision.” “I have had the ambition to relocate at some point to North America and this opportunity was simply too good to pass up,” Olney said.

Olney, 44, joined Volvo CE in 1996 and has held a number of top management positions in Finance, Operations and General Management before becoming the President of Volvo CE in May 2011.

Volvo CE says they’ve started the search for his replacement.
