United Rentals opens branches, adds to board of directors

United Rentals announced June 1 it has opened a trench safety branch in Indianapolis and a regular branch in Lufkin, Texas. The trench safety branch will rent trench shields, shoring systems, slide rail systems and steel crossing plates, as well as confined space products and other trench safety equipment. The company also offers 24-hour emergency response service and safety training for customers. The 8,000-square-foot facility in Texas will serve the company’s customers in Angelina County with equipment rentals, new and used equipment sales, repair and maintenance services and a line of contractor supplies.

United Rentals also announced that Jason Papastavrou has joined its board of directors. Papastavrou has served as chief executive officer and chief investment officer of ARIS Capital Management since founding the company in 2004. He previously held senior positions at Banc of America Capital Management and Deutsche Asset Management. Papastavrou, who holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, taught at Purdue University’s School of Industrial Engineering from 1990 to 1999 and has authored numerous academic publications.
