SALT LAKE CITY—The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will offer a free informational Webinar to detail its projected $2.6 billion I-15 CORE (Corridor Expansion) in advance of the release of the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the design-build project.

The Webinar will be a live broadcast from Salt Lake City on Dec. 2, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (MST) with the RFQ being released and posted on the UDOT Web site the following day, Dec 3.

The project is UDOT’s most significant and one of the largest in the country. It expands 20 miles of Interstate 15 from the US-6 junction to American Fork Main Street, and replaces or reconstructs 11 interchanges and 55 aging bridges in an important corridor 40 miles south of Salt Lake City in Utah County.

Design-build teams will be short listed in January 2009 with the Request for Proposals (RFP) scheduled to be released in April 2009. Selection of the design-build contractor will be completed in fall 2009, with construction on I-15 CORE beginning in early 2010. Completion is projected in fall 2014.

The Webinar will provide information about the project goals, scope, budget, the procurement process, and provide an opportunity for design-build teams to ask questions. Guests are also welcome to attend the Webinar broadcast in person at UDOT’s Region 2 offices, Hurley conference room, 2010 South 2760 West, Salt Lake City, or remotely.
