Pix 11 reports a spokesman from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) said the two men were carrying a wooden board on the upper roadway around 7:35 a.m. when a car hit the board and threw the men from the upper level onto a protective barrier between the upper and lower roadways.
According to silive.com, a large emergency rescue team, led by the New York Fire Department, responded and rescued the construction workers. Both men were transported to Lutheran Hospital, one with a broken arm and the other with neck and back injuries.
Both men work for Tutor Perini, the contractor that was awarded a $235.7 million contract in 2012 to replace the original concrete deck on the upper level with a steel deck.
