Two bridges in Chippewa Falls, Wisc.–the Veterans Memorial Bridge on Main Street and the Marsh Rainbow Arch Bridge on Spring Street—will undergo reconstruction in this month, according to a report in The Chippewa Herald.

Work on the Marsh Rainbow Arch Bridge started June 6, and work on the Veterans Memorial Bridge is scheduled to start June 20.

Both projects will be finished in August.

The current 825-foot Veterans Memorial Bridge was built in 1976. The deck has large areas of delaminated concrete, which is, essentially, holes beneath the surface of the concrete. Work will include a concrete deck overlay, full-depth concrete repair in some areas, joint replacement, concrete pavement approach, asphalt surfacing and installing permanent signs.

The news agency reports that Rick Rubenzer, director of public works and city engineer, had previously said that updates to the historic Marsh Rainbow Arch Bridge will include removing the existing overlay and adding 4 inches of concrete, reconstructing a 2-foot curb on the non-sidewalk side, and doing a fiberglass wrap over three quarters of the bridge.
