Ridgeline MAD Black Edition a pickup drawing from Honda’s sleek racing tradition

Updated Nov 9, 2016

One of the cool things about SEMA each year is getting to see what certain builders come up with when asked by automakers to produce an alternative vision for one of their vehicles. This year, the new Honda Ridgeline made its first official appearance at SEMA and Honda asked Costa Mesa, California’s MAD Industries to build a special edition pickup.

What MAD came up with provided a pretty sleek combination of Honda’s racing heritage and the utilitarian, roll up your sleeves image that it’s been selling in its “Power of Ridgeline” ad campaign.

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition doesn’t make any drastic alterations to the Ridgeline, but those that are there helped this midsize pickup fit in with the Civics and Acuras at the Honda booth while retaining the pickup’s core capability.

MAD lowered the stance of the Ridgeline using Eibach Pro Kit performance springs and set it atop custom painted Candy Red 22 x 9.5 Niche Alpine wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes ST/11 Sport Truck all season tires.

That Candy Red shade makes another appearance as an accent for the grille while Gloss Black covers the rest of the truck.

You’ll notice that the Ridgeline is hauling a 2016 Honda CB500F sport bike. The bike has been painted to match the truck and its held in place by a Mac’s motorcycle pack that includes four tie downs and a wheel chock, while an Amp Research Bed-Extender HD Sport V keeps everything inside the bed.
