Panasonic upgrades semi-rugged Toughbook 54 laptop with faster processor

Updated Sep 24, 2016

For those contractors that require a Windows laptop they can throw in the pickup and bring onto the jobsite, Panasonic has improved its Toughbook 54 with power upgrades.

Panasonic calls this 14-inch laptop the thinnest and lightest semi-rugged laptop in its class, weighing between 4.2 and 4.6 pounds, depending on the model. The Toughbook 54 comes in four models—Lite, Prime, Gloved Multi-Touch and Performance—and is built with a spill-resistant magnesium alloy case with a handle.

The upgraded Toughbook 54 can run Windows 10 Pro or Windows 7 Professional and can be outfitted with dual storage drives. It also features a faster Intel Core i5 processor, which can be spec’ed up to 3 GHz. An even faster Core i7 processor is an available option. Panasonic has also doubled the laptop’s graphics performance.

A stylus holder is an additional option.

The Toughbook 54 starts at $1,499. You can get more information at the Panasonic website.
