President Barack Obama is expected to talk about transportation and transit issues during his visit to the Twin Cities — Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota — on Wednesday, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
The president will likely stop at Union Depot in St. Paul for the transportation discussion, according to the report.
The Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority renovated the station after receiving a $35 million grant from American Reinvestment and Recovery Act’s (ARRA) TIGER (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) program in 2010.
The report notes that station reopened in 2012 and “will serve as a hub for Amtrak passenger-rail service; buses from Megabus, Jefferson Lines and Metro Transit; and the Green Line light rail.”
