Sixteen new Democrats and eight new Republicans from the U.S. House of Representatives were appointed to the Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure, where they will join 20 returning Democrats and 21 returning Republicans on the committee.
Committee Chairman Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) announced the new Democratic committee members: Rep. Greg Stanton of Arizona; Rep. Salud Carbajal and Rep. Harley Rouda, both of California; Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell of Florida; Rep. Jesús García of Illinois; Rep. Abby Finkenauer of Iowa; Rep. Sharice Davids of Kansas; Rep. Anthony Brown of Maryland; Rep. Stephen Lynch of Massachusetts; Rep. Angie Craig of Minnesota; Rep. Chris Pappas of New Hampshire; Rep. Tom Malinowski of New Jersey; Rep. Adriano Espaillat and Rep. Antonio Delgado, both of New York; and Rep. Lizzie Fletcher and Rep. Colin Allred, both of Texas;
“The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has a long history of working in a bipartisan way to get things done for the American people,” DeFazio said in a press release. “Today we are adding to that history by selecting Democratic members who are diverse, dedicated, innovative, and ready to roll up their sleeves. There is no shortage of work to be done, but I have no doubt our new and returning members are up to the challenge to meet the needs of the American people.”
Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-Mo.) announced the new Republican committee members: Rep. Gary Palmer of Alabama; Rep. Ross Spano of Florida; Rep. Greg Pence of Indiana; Rep. Pete Stauber of Minnesota; Rep. Troy Balderson of Ohio; Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania; Rep. Jenniffer González-Colón of Puerto Rico; and Rep. Carol Miller of West Virginia.
“Infrastructure is a major national priority for the president and the Congress, and I believe this is an issue on which we can find common ground,” Graves said in a press release. “I am excited to welcome our new and returning Republican members to the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. I know they come ready to work and want to get something done for our country’s infrastructure.”
