National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) 58th Annual Meeting: ‘The New Now: Your Solutions. Your Decisions. Your Future’

The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) is focusing on “The New Now” at its 2013 Annual Meeting, with a power-packed lineup of speakers starting with business guru Jim Collins and leadership expert Alison Levine.

The meeting is being held Feb. 10–13, 2013, at The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Ariz.

On Tuesday, Feb. 11, business guru Jim Collins, author of Good to Great and the recently released Great by Choice, will bring to bear on the asphalt pavement industry his research-based perspective on how companies can choose to thrive in times of economic turmoil. Following his keynote address, Collins will lead a roundtable discussion with industry CEOs to explore success and survival in the current economic climate.

“Greatness is not primarily a function of circumstance or luck, but of choice and discipline. The factors that determine whether a company becomes truly great lie largely in the hands of its people and in its leadership,” said Collins. In the roundtable, “We will explore a primary question: How do the fundamental principles of building a great company come to life specifically in the asphalt industry?”

Participating in the roundtable will be Randy Lake, CEO of Oldcastle Materials, Georgia; Tim Lee, CEO of Lakeside Industries, Washington; Pat Nelson, president of Lehman-Roberts Co., Tennessee; and Jim Roberts, president and CEO of Granite Construction Co., Calif., Bill Ensor, President of Maryland Paving Inc., will moderate.

On Monday, Feb. 10, attendees will hear from leadership expert Alison Levine, a mountain climber, West Point instructor, and Wall Street veteran who teaches businesses how to prepare for the unexpected and how to make positive changes in chaotic times.

The theme for NAPA’s 58th Annual Meeting is “The New Now: Your Solutions. Your Decisions. Your Future,” reflecting the dynamic nature of the current economy and the need for leaders to develop new approaches and new ways of thinking.

Registration for the Annual Meeting is now open. Early bird pricing is available through Dec. 14. A special room rate at The Phoenician is available through Jan. 11. For event details, or to register, visit www.AsphaltPavement.org/annualmeeting.
