NAPA Care fund raises $109,000 at annual meeting silent auction

The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) raised $109,000 for the NAPA Care Emergency Benevolent Fund (NAPA Care) from a silent auction held during the group’s recent annual meeting in La Quinta, California.

Silent_Auction_Donation_Brochure_CoverNAPA Care provides immediate funds ($5,000) to families of a NAPA member employee who suffered a fatality at a work zone or asphalt plant site. The program has assisted 19 families since its creation in 2012. The silent auction was announced during NAPA’s midyear meeting last July.

“When a tragedy strikes, families need to be able to focus on their grief, not worry about money,” says Roger Sandberg, chairman of the NAPA Associate Members Council NAPA Care Task Group. “NAPA Care exists to support families so they can focus on what’s most important.”

“NAPA Research and Education Foundation (NAPAREF) is grateful for the work of the AMC and everyone who donated items for the auction, sponsored the event, and those who bid on items,” says said Peter A. Wilson, chairman of the NAPAREF Board of Trustees. “The money raised will help ensure NAPA Care is there to help families in their time of need.”
