Lewis and Clark Bridge.Despite recent budget cuts to the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT), more money will be spent on highways and bridges this year.
The Grand Forks Herald reports that Jamie Olson, a spokeswoman for NDDOT, said the department has $680 million in work planned for this construction season, up from $615 million last year.
Although the amount is not as great as in 2013 and 2014, “It’s still a pretty big construction program,” she tells the news agency. “Now that some of those roadways have been built up in the western part of the state, it’s kind of going back and doing overlays and additional work on some of the other roadways.”
According to the report, some major multi-year projects will be finished this year, including the Lewis and Clark Bridge at Williston, bypasses in Dickinson and Killdeer, and a segment of Main Avenue in West Fargo. NDDOT’s complete 2016 construction schedule will be available in May.
