According to NBC Montana, section supervisor Jason Rolls was working with two other DOT employees on Highway 200, using equipment to mix sand and salt.

The equipment wasn’t secured correctly, the station reports, and it gave way. The wheels began to move on the rig while Rolls was still standing nearby. He was killed, but the exact cause of death was not reported.

Rolls had recently been moved to the area from Helena to be a section supervisor for the project.

The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office said the death was an accident, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death.
