Missouri DOT plans improvements to 12 bridges in Callaway County

Missouri welcome signThe Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) plans to make improvements to 12 bridges in Callaway County in 2017, abc17news.com reports. The improvements are expected to cost approximately $8 million, with funds coming from the construction budget through the Statewide Transportation Program (STIP).

MoDOT Central District Project Manager Mike Dusenberg told the news agency that work will begin in March or April 2017 and will most likely be finished by November 2017. â€śThere’ll be some time periods where you’ll have a couple of routes closed in different areas, but we’re not going to be closing multiple bridges in the same vicinity at the same time,” he added. “We want to make sure we maintain access for everybody during the construction work.”

The bridges set to be repaired include the following:

  • Route 54 eastbound and westbound bridges over Interstate 70 at Kingdom City
  • Route 54 eastbound and westbound bridges over Richland Creek
  • Route 54 eastbound bridge over the KCR Railroad
  • Route 54 eastbound bridge over Stinson Creek
  • Route 54 eastbound bridge over Business Route 54
  • Route 54 bridge over Middle River
  • Route 54 bridge over Hillers Creek
  • Route H bridge over Davis Creek
  • Route O bridge over Crows Fork Creek
  • Route UU bridge over Crows Fork Creek

Crews will do concrete patchwork on several bridges and replace the bridge decks at five locations. the 80-year-old bridge on Route H over Davis Creek, which is in critical condition, will be completely replaced.

“There’ll be a lot of lane drops, traffic control setups during a lot of this work, some detours and things set up, so it’ll just take some time and some patience,” Dusenberg told the news agency.
