Photo Credit: Dresbach Bridge Project via FacebookMembers of the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of transportation recently dedicated the new Dresbach Bridge on Interstate 90, which crosses the Mississippi River near La Crosse, Wisconsin.
The $187.5 million project, which began in 2012, involved the reconstruction of the Highway 61/14 and I-90 interchange in addition to the new crossing and old bridge removal. Contractor Ames Construction is continuing with cleanup work and “minor adjustments” through November 15
“The work it takes to get to this day of celebration requires dedication, skill and partnership and we appreciate the work with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to achieve this milestone and build a 100-year bridge,” Minnesota DOT (MnDOT) Commissioner Charles Zelle said at the dedication ceremony.
“This project represents the same type of collaborative process that’s reflected in virtually every transportation improvement,” WisDOT Secretary Mark Gottlieb said. “This bridge is one of several important projects nearing completion along the I-90 corridor and our shared border.”
Those other projects Gottlieb references include a bridge replacement project on Highway 63 near Red Wing, Minnesota, set to start in 2017, and the St. Croix Crossing project in Stillwater, Minnesota, which is scheduled for completion in 2017.
