Mack Trucks says it will increase employment at its Macungie Assembly Operations by 125 people beginning the first week in October. In addition to recalling employees currently laid off, the company says it will need to hire an as-yet undetermined number of additional employees.
According to the company, an uptick in orders from the highway and refuse sides of its business is prompting the hiring; construction still remains weak. Through July, Mack saw U.S. retail sales jump 17 percent from last year.
