The original Pozzo Truck Center founded in 1921 in Gary, Indiana.Pozzo Truck Center, based in Gary, Indiana, is celebrating 95 years as a Mack Trucks dealer.
William A. Pozzo SrWilliam A. Pozzo Sr. founded the business in 1921 after he left a Mack parts and repair operation in Gary when it closed. He served as a mechanic there, and raced with the Fiat team at the Indianapolis 500.
The first location, for which Pozzo sold bonds to fund construction of the building, was located at 11th and Madison. The business moved to its current headquarters location on E. 15th Street in 1972 and added more locations in South Chicago Heights, Illinois, in 1986 and South Bend, Indiana, in November 2016.
“Mack is synonymous with tough, reliable trucks and integrated powertrains,” says Jud Salmon, who owns the dealership with his wife Linda, William Pozzo’s granddaughter. “The integrated powertrain was a great selling point because Mack could control the quality of the components in the truck with its balanced design. Mack’s reputation helped our reputation as a dealer.”
The Gary site has 16 service bays and offers 24/7 breakdown service, the South Chicago Heights location offers 10 service bays and the South Bend operation operates as MTE Sales & Service.

Pozzo Truck Center relocated within Gary, Indiana, in 1972, and subsequently opened two more locations.
