The underside of the Tropicana Avenue Bridge over I-15 shows the wear of being a low bridge. Credit: Nevada DOTThe Tropicana Avenue Bridge over Interstate 15 in Las Vegas is undergoing repairs after several high-load crashes damaged its underside.
The repairs come about a year and a half before the bridge area near The Strip will be reconstructed as part of the $200 million I-15 Tropicana Avenue Project.
The bridge was built in the 1960s and has a clearance height of 15 feet 10 inches. The current repairs are estimated to cost $198,000 and be completed by June 22, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
The I-15 Tropicana Avenue Project is scheduled to begin in late 2021, the Nevada DOT says. The project includes replacing the existing interchange structures to widen and lengthen the Tropicana Avenue bridge over I-15. Other improvements include the replacement of an existing flyover, the addition of HOV ramps, and the separation of through traffic on Dean Martin Drive from the Tropicana Avenue intersection.
