A federal judge in Nevada has ruled that a disputed Las Vegas highway project should be awarded to a North Dakota company, despite a county commission vote to start the bidding process over again.
U.S. District Court Judge Clive Jones issued a ruling granting Fisher Sand and Gravel the $112 million contract to widen a section of the Las Vegas Beltway north of the city in early January, according to an Associated Press report in the Marin Independent Journal.
According to the report, Clark County spokesman Dan Kulin says commissioners will decide within 30 days whether to appeal.
Fisher Sand and Gravel, based in Dickson, N.D., filed a lawsuit last April in state court, challenging commission votes awarding a $117 million contract for the job to Nevada-based Las Vegas Paving, according to the report.
