John Deere has beefed up its crawler dozer lineup with the addition of the 450K and multiple updates to the 550K and 650K. The company plans to feature the 450K at ConExpo in March.

“The 450K, 550K and 650K are key models in the John Deere dozer lineup,” says Nathan Horstman, crawler dozer product marketing manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “With the 450K, we focused on proven K-Series durability and fuel-saving technologies, and we updated the 550K and 650K models to offer enhanced reliability and serviceability upgrades to improve customers’ operating costs.”

Deere added an 80-horsepower engine to the 450K, which the company says provides 16 percent more horsepower and improved power-to-weight ratio, torque and drawbar pull compared to the 450J. The new machine also offers Eco Mode and Total Machine Control.

The company updated the 550K with a 92-horsepower 4.5L Tier 4 Final diesel engine, and offers six undercarriage rollers and 86 inches of track on the ground. The 650K features a 104-horsepower engine and seven undercarriage rollers with 92 inches of track on the ground.

Electrohydraulic (EH) controls are available as an option on all three dozers. The company says EH boosts blade response with increased hydraulic motor capacity. For the 450K, that means 50 percent greater blade-raise performance.
